Songster Practice – Tuesday 19th May

Hi everyone,

How are you all doing? Has anyone else really had enough of Covid-19 now – you’re fed up with washing your hands every few minutes, you want to be able to go out of your house without constantly crossing the street to avoid people and, most of all, you want to be able to see your friends and family!

Well singing is good for you and helps to lift our spirits! When our singing is combined with praise and worship it really has the power to focus our mind and our emotions on the one who is our Rock, our Strong Tower, our Refuge and our Strength. So forget Coronavirus for these next few minutes and focus on Him!

We’re going to start this evening with some familiar words which remind us why we love Jesus. So sing along to this lovely arrangement chosen by Myrtle.

White as snow

Lamentations 3:22-23 reminds us that ‘The faithful love of the Lord never ends…. Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning.’ So if today hasn’t been a good day, we have the reassurance that, no matter what, God’s love for us will never end and tomorrow we can claim the strength for a new day! Thanks Jo for choosing this lovely song.

Let the morning bring

One of my ‘go to’ psalms over the past few weeks has been psalm 91 and the next song, based on this psalm and chosen by Alex and Sian, has taken on a new significance for me! I love the concept of the mother hen keeping her chicks safe from danger and protecting them from the elements by sheltering them under her wings. In the same way, God our Father is our refuge; He is our fortress and provides our place of safety.

Under His wings

Our final song has been requested by both Marlene and Gwyneth and reminds us that whatever we are going through in these difficult times there is one right beside us who knows exactly how we are feeling and offers His peace.

Share my yoke

Finally, many thanks to all those who have been in touch this week with more song suggestions – it’s lovely to hear from you!

A benediction to finish from the ISS.

The Lord is gracious

Missing you all. Take care.

Chris
