Lent Word on Wednesday
By Jenny Roberts

Psalm 56:3 “In the day when I am afraid, I will trust in You.”

The Psalmist in this text is not declaring that he is never faced with the opportunity to fear, but what he is saying is that when fear tries to attach itself to Him, He will not be afraid, but instead, He will trust God.

David had many opportunities in his life to fear.  When faced with a bear as he tended his father’s sheep, he chose courage and killed it. In the face of torment from the giant Goliath, David defeated him too.

Each time David faced the giant, called ‘fear’, he chose faith in God and obtained ‘the victory’ over each situation.

Let today be the day that we all turn our lives into freedom, by speaking the Word of God over every situation or circumstance that tries to paint fear into our lives. Do not be afraid to face what each day has for us, but in faith move forward, proclaim that through the life and death of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour, we claim the Victory.
